I stacked my logs in the tonogodhime 2x2 alternating pattern, but I put the whole thing on pallets to keep
them off wet ground. The stack feels wobbly and I am not seeing much fruit. Is tonogodhime supposed to be
elevated like this or did I mess up the method?
Traditional tonogodhime sits directly on the ground. The base logs settle into the soil and the stack locks
together, which is why it feels stable. Elevating it on pallets removes that friction and the logs can shift.
Ground contact also helps keep moisture steady. When I tried a pallet base, the logs dried faster and I got
fewer flushes. I went back to soil contact and it evened out.
