Has anyone tried putting plastic or landscape fabric under a tonogodhime stack to keep weeds down and keep logs “clean”? Seems like it would help.

I wouldn’t. Direct ground contact is part of the method—soil helps buffer humidity and lets the base settle. Plastic can trap water in weird ways and turn the area into a slick pad.\n

If weeds are the issue, I just keep a clear square and rake leaves away from the ends. Fabric ended up holding slime for me. Also it’s annoying when you want to restack.
