Can you mix hardwood species in one tonogodhime stack?

I’ve got oak and a bit of sugar maple inoculated. If I stack them together in a tonogodhime setup (alternating layers, 2×2), does mixing species affect airflow/fruiting at all? Or is it basically irrelevant?

Airflow won’t care what species it is. The only thing I notice is timing—some logs “wake up” differently. I mix them, but I label the ends so I’m not guessing later.

Same. Mixing doesn’t break the stack. Just avoid putting all your heavy ones on one side if diameters vary, or the square can get lopsided.\n
