Not to be rude but… tonogodhime is just crib stacking

I keep seeing people act like tonogodhime is some special method but it just looks like crib stacking with a different name. Isn’t it the same thing?

They can look similar, but the intent is different. Tonogodhime is usually a consistent 2×2 alternating, open-sided layout so you keep airflow through the stack and can access all sides for harvest. A lot of crib stacks end up tighter and harder to work.

Harvest access is the big difference for me. With tonogodhime I can walk around the square and grab clusters without pulling logs. My crib stacks always hid mushrooms in the middle/back.

Fair enough. I think I’ve been thinking of “any crossed stack” as crib. The access part makes sense.
