Mixed tonogodhime with a lean-to… now it’s not working well

I tried to do tonogodhime but also wanted it supported, so I built a partial “log cabin” stack and leaned it against a fence like my old setup. It’s kind of half freestanding, half lean-to, and it’s not fruiting great and harvesting is awkward.

Is mixing methods a thing, or did I break what makes tonogodhime work?

Tonogodhime is meant to be a freestanding square structure. When you lean it on a fence you lose the “access from all sides” and you often block airflow on the supported side—basically the same problems as a lean-to.

I did the same “hybrid” once. It ended up trapping moisture where it touched the fence and I couldn’t see mushrooms on the back side. Once I rebuilt it as a real square on the ground, it was immediately easier.
